For a stone professional supplier, we must inspect the quality of the products before packing and loading, not only natural stone do like this, the quartz products need to do this too. So what should we do inspect for quartz products like slab and countertops? Let’s see below points.

1.      Surface

All the slab or cut to size like countertops, vanity tops, Islands, Window sills etc, We must check the surface carefully, ensure there must be no cracks, chips, scratches, stains, watermarks or impurities.

2.      Dimension

For slab, the dimension is fixed normally like in 3200X1600MM, that’s easier. But for custom projects in countertops, vanity tops, all the size must be measured strictly as per the shop drawing or order drawings. The size of the quartz countertop is determined by the installation situation of the countertops. If the quartz countertop is installed between two ends of the wall, the length dimension should be 1 ~ 2mm less than the space. If one or both ends of the quartz countertop is not stuck at the two ends of the wall, the length dimensions is more flexible. It can be a litter longer.

The tolerance of overall length and width dimension should be controlled within ± 0.5mm; and the tolerance of the diagonal dimension should be controlled within ± 0.5mm.

3.      Seam

With the customers’ increasing demands on the perfection of quartz countertops and with the development of processing technology, seams on quartz countertops have become less than 0.5mm, which is almost seamless. The color of the glue must be closed to the color of the quartz surface and the seam line must be straight and not like a zigzag line. If it is corner joint, it should be cut at 45 ° from the bottom to ensure that the seam is not visible.

4.      Edge Process

The edge process of quartz countertops usually has these shapes: straight edge, Easted, bevel edge, quarter round edge, half bullnose edge, full bullnose edge, double bullnose edge, ogee edge, dupont edge, cove dupont edge, mitered edge, lamniated bullnose edge, ogee straight edge.

Make sure the shape of the entire edge is processed smoothly and the polishing is uniform throughout the whole edge.

5.      Sink hole, faucet hole, bolt hole and anchor hole

Make sure the sizes and shape of the sink hole, faucet hole, bolt hole and anchor hole are matched with the sizes and shape of the accessories and in right places as the drawings confirmed. The tolerance for these hole dimensions should be within 0 ~ + 1mm. Also make sure the edge polish of the sink hole is smooth and even, without any abruptness.

6.      Set-match and veining-match

The whole set of a quartz countertop includes the top, the back splash and sometimes the skirting. Make sure all parts are matched well without color variation and labeled with installation numbers. This is very important for projects. For veining style, if there’s veining-match request, all parts should be matched well with marks of installation direction. Make sure the label and mark position should be at least 5mm away from the surface.
